gotSauce ("we", "our", or "us") operates the gotSauce website (gotsauce.io) and browser extension. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
gotSauce is a video indexing tool that helps users search inside videos and find related sources for claims made in video content.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address for authentication purposes. You may optionally provide a display name.
Browser Extension
The gotSauce browser extension:
- Reads the current page URL when you activate the extension on YouTube, Twitter/X, or TikTok
- Reads text you select on web pages when using the right-click context menu
- Accesses video captions and transcripts to extract claims from videos
- Sends video URLs and extracted text to our servers for processing
- Stores cached transcriptions locally on your device for faster subsequent access
- Does NOT collect browsing history, passwords, or personal data from other websites
- Does NOT run automatically - only activates when you interact with it
Video Content
When you create a "receipt" (indexed video clip), we store:
- The video URL and platform (YouTube, Twitter/X, TikTok)
- Video metadata (title, channel/author name, thumbnail)
- Extracted claims and their timestamps
- Transcriptions of video audio
Usage Data
We collect basic usage information such as receipts created and pages visited to improve our service and prevent abuse.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain our video indexing service
- To authenticate your account
- To process and display video receipts
- To enable search across indexed video content
- To detect and prevent fraud or abuse
- To improve our platform
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides enterprise-grade security including encryption at rest and in transit. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Supabase - Database and authentication
- Vercel - Hosting
- ElevenLabs - Speech-to-text transcription for videos without captions
- OpenAI - Text embeddings for semantic search
- Anthropic (Claude) - AI-powered claim extraction and source summarization
These services process data according to their respective privacy policies. We only share the minimum data necessary to provide our service.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Export your data
- Opt out of non-essential communications
Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.
Children's Privacy
Our service is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
